New comprehensive information on Marijuana from the National Institute on Drug Abuse

With the release of the annual Monitoring the Future (MTF) survey results the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) upgraded their web site and information on marijuana.  The MTF study is done in conjunction with The University of Michigan and looks at substance use by 8th, 10th and 12th grade students across the country.  The NIDA information is one of the most comprehensive discussions on the current research on marijuana.

The MTF study found:

·        The surge in teen vaping has leveled off but remains high.

  • The use of marijuana (in all forms, including smoking and vaping), the most commonly used illicit drug by adolescents, did not significantly change in any of the three grades for lifetime use, past 12-month use, past 30-day use, and daily use from 2019-2020.

  • Alcohol use has not significantly changed over the past five years. However, across all grades, alcohol use in the past 12 months has leveled off from its historical gradual decline.

The update to the NIDA site is the most recent information on marijuana and offers the most recent science.  Because at Gobi we see most of our inquiries from parents about adolescent pot use we wanted to make you aware of this resource.
